Ashok Leyland total sales stood at 9785 units for July 2012 as compared to 7834 in July last year. This is a 25pc increase in sales. But the figure is a bit misleading. Of these units, Dost sales contributed to 2803 units. Since Dost is a new small commercial vehicle introduced few months back it has no corresponding sales figure for July 2011. But the commercial vehicle segment sales without Dost stood at 6982 this year as against 7834 units last year, thereby dropping by 11pc.
